I am hoping to get your take on this stone. it was recovered approx. 2 ft. underground, in an area in Catskill foothills, NY.

 

Typically, when i dig, its 2/3 stones in this area.

Surprisingly, digging a hole at the top of a small ridge / hill …

100 yard drop, medium grade, not too steep.

 

it was all sandy soil of sorts… rich and fertile.

under this stone was a layer of gravelstones that i have collected, but not sifted yet.

 

I have found several stones of smaller size… pointed like this.

 

are these stones brought by something natural, or placed as pointers pointing to something perhaps ???

 

The stone is about the exact size of a football.
